Description:

Lovely organic yarns felted into this lovely theme bag called Ju-Xian. Ju-Xian is an ancient Chinese city whose name means 'chrysanthemum city'. I thought this appropriate because the Summer Olympics begin in Beijing, China in August. The chrysanthemum flower was introduced to Japan around the 8th century A.D. & the Emperor adopted the flower as his official seal. There is a "Festival of Happiness" in Japan which celebrates this lovely flower. It was brought to Europe in the 17th century. Linnaeus (botanist), named it for the Greek prefix 'Chrys' which means golden (the color of the original flower) & 'anthemon' meaning 'flower'. The flower is called Oogiku in Japanese meaning 'big Chrysanthemum. The knitted.felted accessory bag with fashion button flower carries on the floral theme as does the trim on the entire inside of the long strap which has chrysanthemums cascading up & down & the underside of the flap has the same chrysanthemum trim. The lovely Chrysanthemum flower on the flap is knitted/felted separately and is three dimensional & the fun bobbles around the flap are knitted/felted into this piece.
