This palette knife, acrylic painting on canvas, was done in honour of Queen Elizabeth's 60th anniversary on the throne, hence the title "Jubilee Poppies" and the red, white and blue colours!
Queen Elizabeth II is Head of State of the United Kingdom and 15 other Commonwealth realms.
The elder daughter of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, she was born in 1926 and became Queen at the age of 25, in 1952.
In 2012, she celebrated 60 years on the throne!
She has reigned through more than five decades of enormous social change and development.
Canada is a constitutional monarchy and Queen Elizabeth is the Queen of Canada.
She does not rule the country, but is the head of state. The Governor General of Canada has the mandate to exercise the authority of the Crown, on the advice of the Canadian Cabinet, without consulting the Queen.
Queen Elizabeth was the first British sovereign to be separately named Queen of Canada. This position is independent of her role as Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth countries.
6 February 2013 marked the 61st anniversary of The Queen's Accession to the throne.
