Painting - Oil On Canvass
Karl Marx was a 19th Century philosopher and communist (he was not a pro-state and authoritarian system advocate, despite modern propaganda). Marx, sometimes mistakenly referred to at times as the father or inventor of socialism, developed Materialist Dialectics based largely on Feuerbach's materialism and Hegelian Idealist Dialectics. His strong interest in the function of capital within society lead to critiques of capitalism which; despite McCarthyism and anti-Marxist propaganda, is somewhat resurgent and it cannot be argued that his influence in philosophy has always been quite impressive.
