Oil Pastels are tough for me too, I just stick with it, and you don't see the pile of "not good enoughs." This one was especially fun as it is a scratchboard where I covered illustration board with red ink, then covered it with a couple of layers of oil pastels, then scratched into it to reveal red, then put on more colors of pastels and continued, scratching, and adding until it looked good.
