Description:

This image is a detail from my painting 'Amaterasu'. I enjoy bird watching and drawing them. Birds appear in many tales and are associated with the soul, freedom, spirit and goddesses the world over. I enjoyed nesting the differnt bird shapes into one another while creating this image and think it makes a nice compostion in its own right. It's a spring - like image, partly because the original painting relates an Ainu myth about the return of light and warmth after winter's cold, dark days.
