Title
La Jolla Sunset in Digital Oil
Artist
Angela Stanton
Medium
Painting - Impasto
Description
This is a painting where I used a photo (I posted earlier) for my reference. The painting is fully digitally hand painted using the software Artrage and Wacom Intuos 4 digital tablet with the spring activated pen that behaves like a brush of my choice--brush choices are included in the software as are various mediums. This particular one is in heavy oil equivalent, nearly impasto in some places. I also used metallic water droplets (click on the water spray to enlarge and see) to try to capture the color of the water droplets you can see on the photograph posted earlier.

Artist augmented paintings are available from the artist. "Augmented" implies that the artist paints atop the printed canvas using gel and other medium to bring the brush strokes and the textures more akin to the original art envisioned by the artist. Please contact the artist directly for such purchase: angela@stantonphotostudios.com . Price quoted below includes the canvas print on a canvas wrapped on a stretcher bar with the painting either mirrored on the side or left white. 2.5" stretcher is quoted but other sizes are available.

Why digital and not "real"? I am a "green" artist. I had my share of oil and tempera (my favorite mediums) for a number of years in my youth but as my children were born I realized how much toxic materials I am working with! I now paint nearly exclusively digitally. The effect is just about the same without harming the environment as intensely as oil paint does. I also prefer to not kill trees if I don't have to. I hope you agree that art remains art regardless if digital or oil on canvas or paper.

Great image! years ago Iread an article dealing with a safe pallet and the toxic fumes created by mixing certain colours. I have always tried to follow that course but you have taken it one notch hire congrats. ps thanks for the comments on my work

Wow! Great painting! It's so difficult to capture a sunset well - and you definitely did it!
