La Lamparareia En La Noche Albacin Granada
Painting - Digitally Altered Acrylic On Canvas
This is a digitally altered version of my painting La Lampareria, Albacin, Granada". It depicts what I think this amazing lamp shop would look like at night.
My wife and I are regular visitors to Andalucía in southern Spain and we often visit Grenada. In 2011 we visited the Albacin a medieval Moorish district of the city that rises on a hill offering spectactular views of the Alhambra Palace.
As we were exploring the narrow, winding streets we came across a small lamp shop with a fantastic display of colored lanterns. I immediately knew that I had to paint it. This proved to be easier said than done but I think I have pulled it off. Although this painting took a while to paint, I suspect this was less time than it takes to make one of these beautiful lanterns.
As the shop reminded me of Aladdin's cave I added a suitable lamp on the table outside the shop.
