Painting - Watercolor On Langton Not Watercolor Paper 300gsm
In April, 2007, my youngest sister and her husband visited South Island, New Zealdand, to attend their daughter's beach wedding. ( As depicted in my painting 'Bride and Groom - Beach Wedding at Sunset')
During their vacation, they took many reference photographs for me to compose and paint a scene on their return home.
Their reference photograph of Lake Rotoroa showed an overcast April sky making the near and mid-distant conifer-covered hills appear very dark.
As I planned to give them my completed framed painting as a memento, I tried to make a more attractive scene by brightening the sky and the conifer covered slopes, yet still, hopefully, retaining the overall view.
Normally I compose from my own reference photographs and can take liberties in the knowledge that I have been there, sensed the atmosphere and sometimes even tasted the local wine!
My apologies to any member who knows Lake Rotoroa. Perhaps I have over-stretched 'artistic licence' somewhat!
My sincere thanks to my sister and my brother-in-law for their kind permission to use this image.
