Description
The wolf is the largest member of the canine family. Gray wolves range in color from grizzled gray to black to all white. They are ancestors of domestic dogs and once ranged throughout all of North America but were exterminated in most areas of the United States by the mid 1930’s. Today their range has been reduced to Canada, Alaska, and a few small pockets in the lower 48 states. In 1995, the Gray Wolf was reintroduced back to Yellowstone National Park.
This wolf is a yearling female member of the Lamar Canyon Pack in Yellowstone’s Lamar Valley. I had the opportunity to watch and photograph her over the course of two days. She was very photogenic with her beautiful golden eyes shining in the sun. Hope you enjoy the photo.
