James, You sound like my professor from university. This watercolor painting was done in my last class at the University of Maine. I got an A in the class. I know all about the space around the subject and what is painted in the scene to draw the eye to the subject, which is Lauren. Thanks for your advice.

well, lets look at Laurens dace class. Lauren needs ro be repositioned up the picture to cover the pillar then the figure on the left will guide the eye along the handrail directly to Lauren, whereas at present the figure directs the eye away from Lauren and points to the pillar, try it by printing it in paper and the cut out the figure and re position. -Now to find Simon and Bronx. Thanks for your comments and advice James. I graduated in 2008 with a bachelor degree in Studio Art. My professors gave the same teaching. My self portrait was in the Student Art Show in Spring of 2008, "AM Yoga," which I had to change the saturated colors of the pillows to a very light color, as to keep the eye on the subject, person doing yoga. That was at the University of Maine in Orono. What do you think of my painting, "Simon and Bronx?"

Hallo Stella, I see that you have don a comprehensive view of my gallery and I thank you for your comments. I too have now viewed your works and you are a competent painter. If I may I have 2 comments. All masterpieces have one thing in common - A painting is a message without words. Also Art must have good composition (the same as a letter needs sentenses or the message is just a jumble of words. You must design your work to draw the viewers eye to a focal point in the picture. Now paint me a picture that tells a story. I look forward to viewing it. If I can be of further help please do not hesitate to contact me. James
