Photograph - Photograph
Sometimes I'm a lazy photographer, I hate to admit it but I am. While I say that, I think I'm getting better. Maybe some of you can relate to me. There have been many places, scenes that I have always told myself that I would like to photograph, someday, when I have more time. Only to drive by that scene one day and see that the old building has been torn down or that something has changed drastically, forever changing that scene that was going to be captured someday. I've driven by this old barn and Silo for many years always thinking that I need to stop and take a picture of the Silo before it falls over. Well I finally did. I made it a point to wake up early and drive 40 minutes with only one purpose in mind. To capture the barn with the leaning silo.
So this barn off of highway 37 in Sonoma County, has been there ever since I moved to California more than 33 years ago. That whole time the silo has been leaning looking as if it was ready to fall over. I have come to the conclusion that that old silo is probably going to be around much longer than me. Those steel cables holding it in place must be very strong. Maybe they should do the same thing to the Leaning Tower of Pisa?
To be honest, I'm not even sure if this is a working farm. It seemed like they were growing a lot of dirt at the time. Around back is an old school bus and some what appears to be much broken down machinery.
Well, here it is, off to the side of a highway where the traffic moves 65 miles per hour plus. I finally stopped to capture this barn with the leaning silo. I would feel really bad if that silo fell over now, but at the same time I would be really happy that I finally took the time to capture a place in time that this barn with the leaning silo and I shared.
