Description
Leo constellation. Optical image of the zodiacal constellation Leo, the lion. North is at top. The body of the lion is formed from the bright stars at upper right. The furthest right of the group, Regulus (Alpha Leonis), marks the heart of the lion, with Denebola (Beta Leonis, at upper left), marking its tail. The lion's head is formed from the hook of stars (top right) above Regulus. At lower left is the constellation Corvus, the crow, formed from a quadrilateral of stars. To its right is the faint constellation Crater, the cup. The Sun passes through Leo in late Summer, so these constellations are best observed in spring from the northern hemisphere.
