Let Your Light So Shine Among Men
Painting - Print
"Let Your Light So Shine Among Men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father Who is in Heaven." Matthew 5:16
A painting that I did carved on a thick wooden panel to honor Chief Junaluska of the Cherokee Nation who walked BACK from Oklahoma after the death march his people were put through because the white gold miners found gold in Cherokee Nation North Carolina. He carried the "Peace Flame" coals which were a vow to not fight but stay Christians of PEACE. The flame still burns.Unto These Hills was a drama enacting this tragic episode of the God and Jesus loving Cherokee people. When I lived in the Smokies during a summer of college years, I spent much time watching the drama, and drawing portraits of Cherokee people to earn a little pocket money. One very good and handsome actor. I fell deeply in love with who played ""Suyeta"-Ernie Widenhouse,Wolf Clan-(One of the clans that did not leave to Oklahoma, but hid in the mountains and with help of white sympathetic lawyer Will Thomas, purchased the present Cherokee Reservation for them with their hidden gold that had been pounded into plates.), Ernie has grown up into a great Cherokee Helper of his people-A man of honor-So I honor him and dedicate this painting to him and his tribe, and my Best friend of Cherokee heritage, Professor & Woman of Honor Elizabeth Morgan-Armstrong! I love you all dearly! I pray Blessings to you all and the Cherokee Nation-- in Jesus' Name-Amen!
