Description:

The eye perceives light it only when it is mixed with darkness. Light itself is invisible, yet we see nothing without it. Light actualizes the form within being, and when the single reality of pure light falls upon physical realities, they become visible, manifesting an endless array of color and dimension, a garden of rich and varied hues. Many wisdom and spiritual paths teach that what unfolds in the surrounding world and within the realm of our experiences isn’t a black and white drawing with clearly defined endings and beginnings, no matter how clearly defined a situation may first appear. Every happening unfurls a shifting spectrum of color and interpretation, and its up to us whether we want o ignore, take it at face value, or plumb for multiple levels of meaning and wisdom. There’s no right or wrong answer here, we call the shots. This painting is about embracing the mixture of light and dark in life, the kaleidoscopic unification of the opposites that is life. Only by recognizing, integrating and balancing the opposites can we achieve some degree of healing and wholeness. For most of us, like me, this is a work in progress.
