These columns line one of the promenades in the interior gardens of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki in Honolulu on Oahu in Hawaii. It is architecture from 1927.
The Royal Hawaiian Hotel, is also known as the Pink Palace of the Pacific. It’s situation right on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. It first opened in 1927 and was closed only a six to seven month period in June 2009 for total renovations. The adjacent Beach Tower renovation was done in 2010.
The Royal Hawaiian cost four and one-half million to build in 1927. It has 400 rooms on six floors. The pink color was popular in the 1920s and remains that way today, adding to the ambiance of the architecture and the grounds.
During WWII, the hotel was closed to tourism and used to house U.S. submariners.
