This is an exploration of an idea I'd tried years ago in watercolors. Here I'm trying to adapt the idea for oil, using different tools and taking advantage of the dimensionality of oil paint and media. Why this? Why now? I'd have to say this painting was inspired by some Of Charlie Spear's recent work - a departure for him? - and his interest in some of the old watercolors I'd posted on Facebook (very bad photos of some nice paintings). So, consider this my reply in a visual dialog.
