Painting - Acrylic On Hardwood Floor
There is a scene in the first Back to the Future film (http://youtu.be/ynHRNm1uS4M), where Michael J. Fox (Marty) playing a guitar singing the Earth Angel, as he nervously watches the dance floor, where his future parents MUST end up kissing, so he could be born in the future.
As he keeps looking at his family picture on his guitar, he keeps disappearing at moments, depending to his parents interactions and interruptions on the dance floor.
Fortunately, his parents end up kissing and Martys assured of his existence in the future.
Like the above scene, I see the whole becoming of America, as it is today, it all boils down to Abraham Lincoln existence.
I fail to find anyone else in history to be that consequential in impacting over 150 years of the WORLDs future, and not just the U.S.
I cannot imagine without a united United States of today, any other country could stand up to Hitler and Japan. U.S. could do so, simply because of its "unity" that was possible because of Lincolns accomplishments. Without him, southern states could have been on their own, and very possibly Texas would not have been too eager to join the Union either.
Most of the advances we see today in the world, to great degree, were all because of what America is about that attracted the best minds and dreamers allowed to nurture new ideas into reality. No other country in the world has been able to do that. None.
Without Lincoln, I only imagine a very dark present. In a way, he created powerful gravity, in terms of ideals and believing in the right path for U.S. that eventually glued this country that reaches as far as Alaska and Hawaii.
So my first pieces are in honor of Lincoln- Alaska and Lincoln- Hawaii.
