Little Red Dragon 2

Photograph - Digitally Manipulated Photo
A Ruby Meadowhawk dragonfly, with wings drooping, takes a rest from its aerial maneuvers. A shaft of sunlight broke through the branches of nearby trees to illuminate this little beauty from behind, just long enough to shoot about a dozen frames. The sun moved, casting the area into shadow, and then an amazing thing happened--this little guy flew up and landed on my forearm! I said "thank you, thank you, thank you," and then he flew away! I was on "cloud 9" for the rest of the evening. Digitally manipulated for artistic effect. Copyright 2013, Bill Caldwell / ABeautifulSky Photography.
