Light micrograph in interference contrast illumination of human blood cells. The majority of the cells seen are red cells, carriers of oxygen throughout the body. The concave surface of the cells may be seen, this assists the cells in passing through narrow capilliaries. Just left of centre is a white cell, used by the body to provide immune responses against foreign cells. Magnification x1000 at 35mm.
