Description
These two Violet Dancer Damselflies were mating. They were also tangled in a spiders web. Even tho they were doomed to die in that spiders web, they continued with their mating ritual. Unfortunately their offspring would never make it into this world. I thought it was interesting how their bodies formed the shape of a heart. I avoid interfering with nature as much as possible so I did not free them from the web. Their deaths will mean the spider will live. Cycle of life.

A touch of nature has a place in all of our lives. It brings a sense of peace and beauty to our homes. My goal is to bring nature to people who are unable to or can't find the time to get out and explore the natural world for themselves.

Most intriguing of all pictures I have seen. How marvelous. Are thy caught in a spider's web. one trying to help the other? Are they mating.. creating the symbol of love... How wonderful a moment to come upon. Well done.
Rebecca Brooks replied:
Thank you Maria, This is how they mate. They get attached by the lower end to the back of the others head. They must have accidentally flown into the web during the process.

Wow what a most interesting image Rebecca!! How sad!!! L/F
Rebecca Brooks replied:
Thank you Marvin. It is sad but nature is merciless. More often than not something must die so something else can live.
