( Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved ) Fisherman's Wharf is one of many scenic and popular tourist destinations, when going to San Francisco, California. Not far from the famous Pier 39, you will see several small wood fishing boats. Back in the 1920s, there were about 500 of these Monterey Clippers working the waters in the City By The Bay. Classic boats, less than 30 feet in length were built by local craftsman with oak frames and cedar planks. Today, less than 25 exist and they are an endangered species. The fortunate survivor in the middle is named the ... Lucky Lady.
