Although as my work shows, I primarily focus on felines as well as primates and more occasionally birds, I do try to make a point of tearing myself away from those every now and then to capture images of entirely different animals.
This is one of two species of bears at Khao Kheow Open Zoo here in Thailand, an Asiatic Black Bear aka White-Chested Bear, though probably most commonly known as a Moon Bear, a name I believe derived from it's distinctive almost crescent- or V-shaped white patch on it's chest.
This specie is a medium-sized bear and, though listed as Vulnerable in the wild, can still be found naturally across much of the Himalayas and the northern parts of the Indian Subcontinent, Korea, northeastern China, the Russian Far East, as well as the Honshū and Shikoku islands of Japan.
Many more of my pictures can be seen over on my website - www.ashley-vincent.com - and if you see one there that you would like to purchase as a print but you do not find it over here in my FAA portfolio, please send me a message or email to let me know the picture title and reference number (both of which you will find under all photos in the galleries on my website) and I will post it up here for you immediately.
PLEASE NOTE: The "Fine Art America" watermark only appears on photo you see here online, it will not appear on any printed version you may chose to order.
