Lynching of Leo Frank (1884-1915), Marietta, Georgia. Accused of the rape and murder of a 13 year old girl, Frank's trial was biased by newspaper sensationalism and Anti-Semitism. After the lynching, half of the Jewish population fled Atlanta. Films based on the case are MURDER IN HARLEM (1935), THEY WON'T FORGET (1937), and MURDER OF MARY PHAGEN (1987).
