Description
Show me a sign for a dome climb or a tower climb and I am right there, trying to get above it all for a good view of the city or countryside. I had no idea when I paid my fee for the dome climb for the Almudena Cathedral that this magnificent view of the Palacio Real de Madrid would be part of the bargain! This has got to be one of the best views in Madrid! The Palacio Real de Madrid is the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family at the city of Madrid, but is only used for state ceremonies. The palace has 135,000 square metres (1,450,000 sq ft) of floorspace and contains 3,418 rooms. It is the second largest palace in Europe by floor area after Louvre Palace. The interior of the palace is notable for its wealth of art and the use of many types of fine materials in the construction and the decoration of its rooms. These include paintings by artists such as Caravaggio, Velazquez and Francisco de Goya and frescoes by Corrado Giaquinto, Juan de Flandes, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo and Anton Raphael Mengs. It's an easy climb, definitely worth 6 euro!
