Dade on his horse December 28th 1835, the day he and 107 U.S. Army soldiers were attacked by Seminole Indians in a pine thicket near present day Bushnell Florida which started the Second Seminole Indian War in Florida. Major Dade and all but three of his men were killed in the battle Dec 28th 1835.
