Maligne Lake -- Jasper Alberta Canada
Maligne lake is in Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rockies. Mountains with several notable glaciers feed the lake and give it its trademark blue sheen. It is a pristine wilderness area that showcases Grizzy Bear, deer, caribou, wolves, moose and Mountain Sheep. A record Rainbow Trout of over 20 lbs was caught in the lake and the third largest Brook Trout in the world was also caught here. 'Mailgne' is a French word meaning 'malignant' or 'wicked' which is believed to be the description French Mountain Men gave to the treacherous rivers flowing from the lake in the spring.
