Description
Asian Mandarin Ducks are seldom seen in the United States unless they are feral ducks or ducks on exhibit at the zoo. However, a few of these beauties have gotten loose over time, and you might be lucky enough to see one. I found this Mandarin drake in a group of Wood Ducks at the Los Angeles Arboretum in Arcadia, California. He was standing next a Wood Duck and both were trying to sleep. When I came along, he had just enough time to raise his crest in warning as I took the photo. I love how the green feathers contrast with the orange ones, that form a mane down his neck!

Fantastic capture of these beauties, Bob and Jan! Love the details and the rich colors. Love the close up, as usually we see them at a distance! Congrats on your very well deserved sale of this magnificently done piece of art work!
Bob and Jan Shriner replied:
Thanks Randy, as you can see by the raised crests, they were aware of me but stayed still long enough for me to that this photo. I was lucky! Jan

If this composition is real - You would have a better chance at winning the Lotto than getting this !
Bob and Jan Shriner replied:
Larry, I came upon these two sitting side by side beside a man-made lake in the heart of Los Angeles. Imagine my surprise! Jan
