Description
This is another piece depicting the traditional Cajun Mardi Gras run where masked revelers ride horseback through the countryside gathering ingredients for the Mardi Gras gumbo, the last feast before the Lenten season. Participating farmers allow the riders into their barnyards to run down and capture a chicken or two to be added to the pot. Basile is my hometown, and will always be "home" though I haven't lived there since I was 17 years old. It remains the single most influential place in my life.
