Mardi Gras Atmosphere
A night parade on St Charles Avenue during Mardi Gras in New Orleans can be very a magical experience for many. The vivid colours, bright lights, noise and music can be a very stimulating and uplifting experience and it can be quite difficult at times to do the memory justice with a still camera. However, this one turned out quite well. Ordinarily I would have fixed the bokeh style spots that appeared on the final frame, but in this case I actually think that this aspect of the image actually lends some character to it. I guess some might disagree, but as someone who has experienced and thinks fondly of night parades in Uptown NOLA, this stirs many good memories of a night spent chasing plastic party beads. This particular parade was one of the big evening parades on the last weekend of Mardi Gras, when the crowds at General Pershing really started to build up – adding more and more to the atmosphere of Mardi Gras.
