Description
As viewed from atop the Reunion Tower in Dallas TX, the elegance of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge can be readily appreciated. Its 400 foot high central arch can be seen up close from the 400+ foot observation deck of the tower. A relatively recent addition to the Dallas skyline, the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge first opened in March 2012 with a celebration of parades, a street fair, live music, fireworks and a ceremonial ribbon run as 40,000 people joined the weekend long festivities. It provides an artful way of connecting Woodall Rodgers Freeway seamlessly to Singleton Boulevard in West Dallas. The bridge was named after Margaret Hunt Hill, an American heiress and philanthropist with close ties to many a great many charitable and philantropic organizations in Dallas TX. FUN FACT: Her father was H.L Hunt Jr, whose personal life, which featured many children by three wives, was among the chief inspirations for the television series Dallas. The character J.R. Ewing was largely based on popular perceptions of Hunt.
