Description
This artificial lake was built during the turn of the 19th/20th centuries about 50 kilometers south of Bulawayo in Zimbabwe. The Matopo National Reserve is fighting a losing battle against rhino poaching which has decimated its population in the region by over seventy percent over the last eleven months. General poverty due to inept governance has resulted in desperation among villages here, causing irreparable damage both to its fragile ecology, animals and humans.
