Description
Meloidogyne nematode, light micrograph. Second-stage juvenile of the root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita). This specimen is about one-third of a millimetre in length. The mouthpart is at lower right, the tail at upper left. The whiplike larva of this nematode penetrates a root on its host plant, establishes a feeding site and consumes nutrients, stunting the plant's growth.
