Perth, WA - Australia

It is interersting how everyone sees something different in this great, evocative image. Strangly, I imediately thought of Ceasar and the darker sides of our ancient history.

What I see is an mystery artistic shot, probably like a movie poster, or drama book cover, Philip I like this image for being so mystical, ancient looking and interesting in b&w...V+F)++++

Nice. Very moody and thought-provoking. I just realized you shoot with film which explains why your images sometimes comes across as old school. I've switched to digital but sometimes yearn for my old Nikon F2 Photomic...

Philip Sweeck replied:

Thanks Lynn. I smiled at 'old school', : ) This one is indeed one of my older film images. But I shoot both with digital and film now and I also have more recent work here ( though I 'should' shoot more film, just for the experience and feel of it ), each has their own distinct flavor and advantage...If you want to use your old Nikon F2, just use it!

A little eerie but very compelling dark work. It's such a fantastic concept - metamorphosis...we all actually go through it but I wonder how many of us are conscious of the transitions? This is art that makes one think...and that's a great thing!! F/V

Philip Sweeck replied:

Thanks Lianne. Yes, life is about metamorphosis and from light to dark and dark to light. Maybe it is a bit 'dark', but without darkness we can't see the stars!
