Mommas And Babies
Melanie Rae Zero
Painting - Acrylic, Oil, Mixed Media On Canvas
This painting started with a lot of anger at a bunch of crappy mom people who treated others like poop. I couldn't understand how people who were so ugly on the inside could manage to raise children who wouldn't become serial killers. After painting each of their ugly faces on an ugly yellow couch, I started to work towards learning about the many bodhisattvas and their contributions to the compassionate sides of life through unconditional love and compassion. In trying to understand and comprehend enlightenment and trying to figure out what is real reality v. a false reality, I couldn't stop thinking about love. Christianity refers to God as Love and through the concept of love, God can be understood.
The unconditional love that I feel moment by moment daily, is that from my daughter. The bonds of mother and child, through love, are unfathomable. And they keep growing and expanding, no matter what external influences try to hinder or impede that love. And the love between a mother and her child only grow, with both years and number of children! It's crazy beautiful.
p.s. My focus on green is that it is a traditional color for enlightenment. I rarely paint with green, even though it is my favoruite color. I've always thought that was quite strange.
