While on the beach in Montauk, New York located on the eastern end of Long Island I was photographing the rough Atlantic Ocean pounding the surf when I began to gather up my camera gear as it was a cold, windy day in February while I was doing these photographs. As I turned to walk up the trail that had brought me down to the ocean's edge I noticed the large bluff that protects the Montauk Lighthouse's land from eroding due to hurricanes and noreaster that hit Long Island right on the coast. As I looked a little more up I saw the majestic Montauk Lighthouse from an angle that I had never photographed it at, from the beach right below it. I could not have asked for a more clearer day with a beautiful blue sky serving as my backdrop while taking this photo at the end of the afternoon. I was able to capture the building in front which serves as a museum now, but was home to the men who worked the Lighthouse manually for years and the Montauk Lighthouse and the building to the farthest left a nucleur lighthouse that can pick up all types of submarines and boat and ship activity in the area. For me this was my last shot for the day and for my weekend out at Montauk and I thought it was a perfect ending to a great weekend
