Description
Robert Ferguson flew with the 6th Night Fighter Squadron off of the island of Saipan during World War II. The aircraft he flew was the Northrop P-61 Black Widow an aircraft which was specifically designed for nighttime aerial combat. He was credited with one kill, a Japanese G4M Betty bomber.
THE ORIGINAL PAINTING IS NOW SIGNED ON THE BACK BY THE PILOT, ROBERT FERGUSON.
This painting is acrylic and gouache on canvas and has been produced as a limited edition print, a number of which have been signed by the pilot as well as other P-61 pilots from the war. The angle of the aircraft was chosen to add realism and drama while giving the viewer the chance to see Robert Ferguson�s unique nose art which depicted his wife. He named the aircraft, �The Virgin Widow�. THE ORIGINAL PAINTING IS NOW SIGNED ON THE BACK BY THE PILOT.
Prints are available. They measure approximately 20" X 30" and include history and two printed remarque sketch images of a P-61 Black Widow and a G4M Betty Bomber. Each print is signed by the artist and numbered. The price is $25.00 each. A number of these prints are signed by the pilot, Robert Ferguson, as well.
