Mopani Bridge Maun Botswana
Painting - Oils On Canvas
The Mopani bridge is one of the first of its kind to allow access to Maun in the Okavango Delta. From here, wider routes into the Delta had been established by various Europeans, trailing in the wake of Cecil John Rhodes and David Livingstone who carved Africa open for the British Imperial might during earlier centuries. Great environmental care has been the result in this sensitive part of Africa where humans and animals still exist under uneasy truce. Local villagers nearby use the bridge in order to get to the main highway into Maun where regular mini-bus taxis keeps them mobile. Hot and humid weather with hippos a constant danger.
