Spectacular! And I note the rocks in the water that belie a digitally rendered reflection. This is the real deal and yes, it really is this beautiful there. Amazing capture with all the lighting challenges here. Your work is so sublime. voted and fav'd (and that is unusual to add another Mt Rainier photo to my father's zillion image collection dating from the 40's on through 2005)

Inge Johnsson replied:

Thanks Christine. Yes, I don't do any digital reflections. I got very low next to the tarn for this shot.

Hi Inge, Whatever you had to do to capture this marveous image, it was worth the effort. The clarity and color controls make this a distinctive photograph a standout. Well done and congratulations.

Inge Johnsson replied:

Thanks Kent. It doesn't really matter, but yes, there was a 3 hour drive through the night followed by a 1 hour hike in the dark before sunrise. I remember seeing some animal cross the trail, looking at me with eyes glowing in the light from my headband light; a little creepy but I kept on going. Yes, seeing the sun's first rays hit the east face of Mount Rainier, reflected in the tarn, made the effort seem like nothing :-) Thanks again!

A superbly done capture of this glorious scenic wonder, Inge! I used to live in Tacoma WA, and could see Mt. Rainier from our home! A very beautiful and memorable experience for me. Thanks so much for sharing the beauty and memories, and congrats on a very worthy sale! You get the big, "Elvis" F/V on this masterpiece of photography! definitely a Nat Geo moment, Inge!

Inge Johnsson replied:

Randy, you make me so happy and proud with your wonderful comments :-) This was a very memorable moment for sure. I had called the park ranger many times in the preceding to find out if the snow had melted and the tarn had water in it. I hiked up before dawn to be there for sunrise. It was a glorious morning.
