anet Vanderhoof During a spring Round-up, post 9/11, artist Janet Vanderhoof experienced a vision she needed to paint. Images of cowboys, Mariachi Singers, flags of our country, state and Hispanic neighbors, reminded her of her childhood growing up in once upon a time rural Santa Clara Valley. Intensified by the loss of innocence, post 9/11, the twenty-seven paintings cover a six-year span of work, an idealistic portrait reflecting the way things used to be. “California Cowboy”, gives us a chance to go back in time and connect to this fading nostalgic way of life. The paintings displayed are a few pieces of the series.
