My Secret Autumn Place
Painting - Oil / Canvs
Each autum I look forward to my daily walk through part our great trails system in Ontario. This painting is of a a trail which runs through or city in a spot called Water Works Park. It was created as a people place in the late 1950's and now boasts a mature grows of a variety of trees which create a fantastic colour palette each fall. The trails within the park all interconnect and also form a small link of the Canada Trails system running along the Grand River which runs through the heart of Southern Ontario, it has a unique waterfall know as the Elora Gorge and flows from north to south emptying into Lake Erie at Port Maitland.
The watershed is managed by the Grand River Conservation Authority, the oldest group of its kind in Canada. In painting this scene I just wanted to capture the beauty of our natural heritage.
