Painting - Oil Pastel
Napa was the first White German Shepherd I owned, she passed away 10 years ago at age 14. Her name means sired by a wolf. But she was a registered purebred German Shepherd. She was simply the best dog I owned, sweet, highly intelligent, stable, trustworthy, beautiful and very large. At 1 year she weighed in at 110 pounds. Heavy boned and tons of muscle with a thick lush coat. She charmed everyone, One time there was friend of a friend over and he did not like animals much less those that come into the house. Napa knew she wasn't supposed to go near him and obeyed but she just could not stay completely away. She keep inching over until she was sitting right next to him on the floor, but she didn't try to touch or even look at him for quite a while, then she finally just rested her head on the chair arm and looked up at him. Finally after a few minutes I heard him say "okay I will pet you, I guess your not so bad". That's all she wanted to make sure that he acknowledged her then she got up and laid down across the room. She is surely missed. This painting is of her when she was about nine months old.
