Description
NASA deep space network. Spacecraft-tracking radio antenna at Tidbinbilla near Canberra, Australia, that forms part of the NASA deep space network (DSN). It is set against a starfield showing the Southern Cross. This parabolic dish antenna is 70 metres (230 feet) in diameter, the largest antenna at the Tidbinbilla station. Other antennae at this station are two 34 metre diameter antennae and one 26 metre antenna. Together they track spacecraft on deep space interplanetary missions, or satellites orbiting the earth. Apart from this DSN station in Australia, NASA has stations in Spain and the USA. Combined these stations provide continuous 24 hour tracking of spacecraft.
