Description
Neanderthal carving. View of a 32,000 year old neanderthal carving of a man with a lion's head. Neanderthals (Homo sapiens neanderthalensis) were early humans that lived in Europe and the Middle East about 120-30,000 years ago. Neanderthals' brains were slightly larger than ours, being up to 1750 millilitres in volume. They fashioned tools with which they made weapons, created carvings and constructed dwellings. The first neanderthal skeleton was found in the Neander Valley, Germany. The carving was found in Stadel in Germany. It is from an exhibition by Nordstar photographed at the Naturkundemuseum in Stuttgart, Germany.
