Description
This painting is an example of how we can find meaning in the things we see. This painting of a neglected old building to me is symbolic of the world as I see it today. As you can see the shutters on the window to the left have been crudely patched and the exterior of the building is not maintained at all.
Over the elegant doors in the front is a shelf with beautiful flowers. The world as I see it today is also in a state of neglect. Our leaders while residing in palaces symbolized by the elegant doors, try to patch problems from time to time but never actually implement any real solutions. But just as there exists some small amount of beauty in this painting in the form of the flowers above the doors, some goodness still exists in the world and that is what gives us hope.
