Rome, Italy. Detail of the Fontana del Nettuno in the northern part of Piazza Navona, by night. The basin was built by Giacomo Della Porta in 1576, the fountain was known with the name "Fontana dei Calderari". In 1878 the fountain received the sculptures: "Nettuno lotta con una piovra" (Neptune struggling with an octopus) by Antonio Della Bitta and "Nereidi, putti e cavalli marini" (Nereids, puttos and seahorses) by Gregorio Zappal. The fountain is a match to the fontana del Moro on the other side of the square.
