Description:
Scan of Ektachrome of white oak leaves taken in Mendon Ponds Park in the fall of 1978.
The original image has been algorithmically synthesized into a number of versions made up of thousands of simulated brush, chalk or pen strokes creating by the synthesizer during the rendering process. Each layer can take hours to render and in most images I use between 6 - 12 layers. These are then re-composited as image layers allowing me the ability to create a photo, painting or sketch like representation by blending and filtering the layers as each image moves me to achieve the result I envision.
The resulting pigment prints when printed on watercolor paper look more like dry watercolor paintings than photographs but are still full of wonderful detail.
