Thank you. A friend commented this evening that this was the only one of my paintings that he doesn't like --- because of the almost menacing expression on officer's face. What his observation reminded me is that we each bring our own history, experience and perceptions as context for whatever we observe. He obviously interpreted the intensity of the officer's look in a different way that I experienced it. This remains one of my favorite portraits, and I only wish I'd written down the officer's name so that I could be sure he sees it, too.
