Old Fortress In Livorno
Photograph - Digital Photograph
Old fortress along a canal that stands at the edge of the Medicean Port of Livorno, Italy, dating back to the late 1300's. The fortress is an asymmetrical shape and consists of three bastions (the Ampolletta facing the city, the Canaviglia towards the port and the Capitana to the north east). Initially it was planned to have a fourth facing northwest towards the open sea.
