We don't share our light any longer
and the old lantern is quite shattered.
But I can still see the lighted times
in its rust and fissured glass
when our laughter seemed so friendly in its gleam.
Warmth and the soft glow of hope,
all in the past now and not returning
and this lantern is a silent witness.
As long she stands there in a dusty corner
all my best thoughts will still go with you.
Let's meet once again later, my dear.
Let's meet once in another lighted world.
