Description
I've been wanting to do this shot for quite awhile now (not a photoshop). Anyone who knows New Hampshire well enough will recognize this - The Old Man Of The Mountain, in Franconia Notch, NH.
About 9 years ago, the granite profile of New Hampshire's most famous emblem collapsed. Last summer a memorial was put in place at the base of the mountain. The "Legacy Fund" profile view of The Old Man Of The Mountain, in remembrance. The memorial is basically the original granite profile, stacked onto a long arm (7 arms altogether). Spectators can stand behind the memorial with Cannon Mountain in the background at the correct distance and get a memorable view of The Old Man.
This was pretty easy to photograph. I waited until dusk, and set the lens focal length to 50mm, put the tripod in the correct position and height, and slightly underexposed the image.
